GMC REGISTRATION

GMC Registration

GMC is stands for General Medical Council (GMC)

To practise medicine in the UK, all doctors must be licenced with the General Medical Council (GMC). Based on the kind of work you’ll be doing, there are various forms of GMC registrations and different ways to register for them.

When applying for work, you’ll find that having GMC registration, or at the very least thinking about how you’ll apply and starting the procedure, is beneficial.

Why Do I Need GMC Registration?

The GMC’s primary responsibility is to defend, encourage, and maintain the public’s health and welfare, and one way it does so is by strictly regulating access to the registry. Any doctor who wishes to serve in the United Kingdom must be officially licenced with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold a licence to practise.

These will depend on a number of factors which can be broken down into the following:

– Your country’s
– Where did you get your first medical degree?
– If you’ve done a postgraduate programme or an internship.

The registration process can be broken down into these steps:

– Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) and EPIC verification
– Proof of clinical knowledge and skills
– English Proficiency
– Proof of internship or equivalent experience
– 5 Year activity record
– Passport
– Certificate of good standing
